President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Lagos State to commence his end-of-year holidays, concluding a series of official engagements across northern Nigeria.
The President landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, where he was welcomed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, senior government officials and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tour of Northern States
Tinubu’s arrival in Lagos follows a three-state tour that began with his departure from Abuja on Saturday. His first stop was Borno State, where he commissioned several projects undertaken by the state government under Governor Babagana Zulum, with support from the Federal Government. The projects are part of ongoing efforts to rebuild infrastructure and improve public services in the state.
While in Maiduguri, the President also attended the wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno State Governor and Senator, Ali Modu Sheriff, and his bride, Hadiza Kam Salem.
From Borno, Tinubu travelled to Bauchi State, where he paid a condolence visit to the state government and the family of the late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. The respected Islamic scholar and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood passed away on November 27, drawing tributes from across the country.
Lagos Holiday Engagements
After completing the condolence visit in Bauchi, the President proceeded to Lagos, where he is expected to combine private holiday activities with select public engagements.
One of the highlights of his stay will be his attendance at the Eyo Festival on December 27, where he is billed to serve as the guest of honour. The festival, scheduled to hold at the Tafawa Balewa Square, will honour notable figures in Lagos and national history, including Tinubu’s late mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, former Lagos State Governor Alhaji Lateef Jakande, and another former governor, Chief Michael Otedola.
The visit underscores Lagos’ continued symbolic importance to the President, who previously served as governor of the state before assuming office at the federal level.
