Nigeria: South-West Will Stand by Tinubu in 2027, Says Lagos APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has declared that the South-West region will continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Saturday, APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, dismissed claims by supporters of opposition politician and PDP presidential aspirant, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, that the South-West would not back Tinubu for a second term.

Oladejo described Olawepo-Hashim as a “perennial aspirant” lacking the political structure or influence to win a national election. He insisted that President Tinubu would decisively defeat any coalition formed against his re-election bid.

“Olawepo-Hashim may parade endorsements in small gatherings and press statements, but endorsements on photocopied letterheads do not translate to votes,” Oladejo said. “In the unlikely event that he becomes the presidential candidate of the fast-declining PDP — a party now bankrupt in ideas, capacity, and credibility — he will be roundly defeated at the polls.”

He further described attempts to downplay the achievements of the Tinubu administration as “distasteful and misleading,” noting that the President has made significant progress in infrastructure, education, agriculture, security, and economic reforms.

“Those who manipulate statistics and currency narratives do so because they have nothing better to offer. Nigerians will not trade current progress for the failures of the past,” he said.

Oladejo urged opposition figures to focus on substance rather than publicity stunts. “Press releases cannot replace governance competence. In 2027, Nigerians will choose continuity with a president who has delivered direction and results — not political tourists with theatrical ambitions,” he stated.

Reaffirming the region’s loyalty, the APC spokesman concluded: “The South-West will not abandon its own. Our people recognize performance, leadership, and vision — and will stand by President Tinubu in 2027.”
