The Nigerian Senate has confirmed former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, as the new Defence Minister of Nigeria.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominated General Musa on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, to replace Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar as Defence Minister. Abubakar had resigned on December 1, citing health reasons for his resignation.

On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, after about five hours of grilling, the Senate confirmed General Musa.

Senators extensively probed his military background, analyzed his responses to questions on key issues of national security before confirming him as new Defence Minister.
