Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has alleged that several of his peers in the entertainment industry harbor envy toward him.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Toronto Ada’s Room podcast, the Pity This Boy hitmaker said that the perception that he lacks lyrical skill is fueled by jealousy.
Odumodublvck asserted that, despite criticisms, he has achieved more international recognition than any other Nigerian rapper. He attributed some of the envy to his ability to both rap and sing, which he believes sets him apart.
“In Nigeria, they say my rap is not good, yet I’m the most featured rapper by international artists,” he stated. “It’s envy, because I sing my own hooks, my songs are hits, and I get more bookings than them.”
He further challenged fellow rappers who believe they are more talented to prove themselves through higher record sales and more successful shows.
“The envy is deep, especially from those who think they’re better,” he added. “But we don’t pay attention to that. We’ll keep pushing for those who believe, because this movement isn’t stopping anytime soon.”
