Nigerian afrobeats musician, Davido, has inaugurated a hostel at the Clifford University, Abia State, during the institution’s 6th Convocation Ceremony.
The female hostel inaugurated on Sunday, October 19, 2025, is named after his late mother, Dr. Veronica Adeleke.
Davido delivered the commencement speech during the ceremony, urging graduates to “lead with purpose and use their talents to impact lives,” adding that “true greatness is defined by service, not fame.”
“Standing before the graduating class of Clifford University today giving the commencement speech, I felt something bigger than music. I saw a generation ready to change everything,” Davido wrote.
He described the hostel as a tribute to his mother’s legacy as an educationist and philanthropist. “My mother, Dr. Veronica Adeleke, was a teacher and giver who believed education and compassion could change lives. This building is a continuation of her purpose — turning love into legacy,” he said.
Present at the event was entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, who announced he would sponsor the tuition fees of 50 students.
