Nigeria: Dangote Refinery Confirms Over 310 Million Litres of Petrol Ready for Distribution

The Dangote Refinery has announced that more than 310 million litres of petrol are ready for loading, urging marketers to bring their trucks to its facility for immediate supply.

Vice President of Dangote Group, Devakumar Edwin, made the disclosure on Friday, assuring that the refinery has sufficient fuel to meet both local and export demands.

“Marketers can bring any number of tankers for loading. We have enough products available,” Edwin said. “Some people are trying to raise prices on the assumption that Dangote is not supplying. That’s false. Bring your trucks—we will load them. We currently have over 310 million litres in our tanks.”

He clarified that a temporary reduction in crude intake was a strategic decision linked to inventory management rather than a production issue. “When prices drop, we buy more crude. But no refinery wants to lock too much money into stock at once. That’s why we sometimes reduce inflow,” he explained.

Edwin also dismissed speculation that the refinery had halted operations, noting that occasional technical adjustments are part of normal refinery management. “No factory operates at 100 percent every single day. What matters is whether the issue affects final output. Major plants undergo turnaround maintenance periodically—usually every few years.”

He added that the refinery continues to produce daily and has ample stock for distribution across Nigeria.

According to Edwin, the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility is capable of meeting the country’s full demand for petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel, while still exporting nearly half of its total production.

“This is a very large refinery producing 94 percent lighter products such as petrol, diesel, and jet fuel,” he said. “Our production far exceeds Nigeria’s requirements, and the refinery is fully operational.”
