Two people lost their lives, and six others sustained injuries in a road accident that occurred on Friday at the Police Commissioner Junction in Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the crash involved a Howo truck, a Toyota Corolla, and two tricycles. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident was caused by brake failure on the truck.
FRSC Sector Commander in Borno State, Corps Commander Usman A. Muhammad, confirmed that eight male adults were involved in the crash. Two victims died at the scene, while six others suffered varying degrees of injuries.
Emergency responders promptly arrived at the site, and the injured were taken to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
Commander Muhammad expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He also urged drivers to maintain their vehicles regularly, obey traffic rules, and remain vigilant to prevent similar tragedies.
