The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Nigeria, Nnamdi Kanu, has blasted at a judge in court for not ‘respecting’ the Constitution of Nigeria.

“Useless Black African people”, he said in open court as he accused the judge of perverting justice by ignoring the Constitution.

Kanu had asked to see the “written law” behind the court’s actions and called the proceedings “nonsense.”

“Your constitution says you cannot try anybody unless the law is written. Show me the written law,” he demanded.

He simply could not understand why he was in a “court of law” when the Constitution is not being respected in his view.

Kanu has been detained since he was forcibly extradited from Kenya. He is standing trial in for alleged terrorism-related offenses, including incitement of violence, operation of a separatist movement, and broadcasting threats to achieve the secession of Biafra from Nigeria. He leads the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a banned separatist group. Kanu denies wrongdoing, claiming his actions were part of a legitimate struggle for self-determination. His trial has drawn national and international attention, sparking protests and tensions in southeastern Nigeria.
