NIGERIA: Armed Bandits Raid Church in Kogi State, Pastor and Worshippers Abducted

A terrifying attack by armed men on a Cherubim and Seraphim church in the Ejiba community, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, occurred on Sunday, November 30, 2025. The raid has thrown the quiet community into panic, deepening fears about the worsening insecurity spreading across parts of Kogi.

The assailants stormed the church during service, and earlier reports confirmed they whisked away the church’s pastor, known widely as Orlando, alongside his wife and several church members whose exact number is still unclear.

Chaotic Aftermath

A video reportedly recorded moments after the incident shows scattered footwear, open Bibles, and overturned items—visual evidence of how abruptly worshippers fled when the attackers struck.

The person filming moved through the deserted building, relaying the desperation of the community:

“I hid myself; this is the church where they abducted people. You are seeing where they kidnapped people at Ejiba. Please, save us. Baba Orlando, who is the head of this church, was abducted. You can see the inside. They didn’t bother to put off the speaker or anything.”

Disturbing Pattern

The Ejiba incident adds to a disturbing pattern of attacks targeting religious centers and rural communities in the North-Central region. Just days earlier, on November 18, 2025, armed men invaded Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Isegun, in the Eruku area of Kwara State while a service was ongoing, highlighting the extreme vulnerability of worshippers in the region.

The attacks underscore the urgent need for enhanced security measures in North-Central Nigeria.
