Nigeria Aims To Unlock Over $1 Billion In Trade and Investment At TICAD9 – Says President Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed has stated that Nigeria’s participation at the ongoing ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) is aimed at unlocking over $1 billion in bilateral trade and investment.

According to him, Nigeria’s participation in TICAD9 is also seeks to drive green innovation and industrial growth, expand opportunities for Nigerian youth, and position Nigeria as the heart and gateway to West Africa’s vast market.

President in a post on his official Facebook page after the opening ceremony of the three-day TICAD9 Summit taking place in Yokohama, said “This Summit is our launchpad for lasting development and global partnership, anchored on technology, talent and trust,” adding that “Nigeria will lead, and Africa will rise.”

In 2024, Nigeria’s total value of export to Japan stood at $804,8 million, per economic data shared by President Tinubu on Facebook. The export for 2024 were mainly in mineral fuels, aluminum, seeds, copper.

According to the official data, Japan exports to Nigeria in 2024 was $323.48 million.
