Newcastle United has responded to striker Alexander Isak’s claims that the club failed to honor promises regarding his future. In a statement on its official website, the club stressed that no agreement had been made to let Isak leave this summer.
Isak, in an Instagram post, had expressed frustration and alleged that his trust with the club had been broken. He wrote, “When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.”
In response, the club stated that Isak remains under contract and no club official ever made a commitment for him to leave this summer. They emphasized their desire to keep their best players while acknowledging that players have their own wishes. The club added, “The conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired, and we do not foresee those conditions being met.”
Despite recent reports of him being left out of matchday squads, Newcastle insists that the 24-year-old Swedish striker is an important part of their plans, and he “will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.”
