New Zealand Post Suspends Most Deliveries to U.S. Amid Tariff Uncertainty

New Zealand’s postal service, NZ Post, has suspended most deliveries to the United States due to the approaching U.S. tariffs. The decision, which took effect on August 21st, comes ahead of a new 15 percent U.S. tariff scheduled for August 29th.

The move was prompted by the Trump administration’s plan to abolish a tax exemption on small packages entering the U.S. This policy has led to similar delivery suspensions by postal services and carriers in several other countries, including India, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, and Denmark.

NZ Post confirmed that only a limited number of items, such as legal letters and passports, will still be delivered to the U.S. The postal service is currently “working quickly” to make the necessary changes and hopes to resume full deliveries as soon as possible.
