Former NBA player, Damon Jones, has allegedly involved LeBron James in the NBA mafia gambling scandal. Jones has been accused of leaking LeBron’s non-public information for the purpose of placing illegal bets before at least two Los Angeles Lakers games during the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 NBA seasons.
A report by Daily Mail said LeBron James’ private information was leaked by Damon Jones from the Los Angeles locker room.
On Thursday, October 23, 2025, the NBA was rocked with the mafia gambling scandal after the FBI disclosed that a series of wide-ranging investigations into what has been reported as mafia-led gambling rackets.
Portland Trail Blazers head coach, Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier, are reportedly among 34 people arrested over the gambling scandal.
Damon Jones, a defendant in the scandal, allegedly shared private information about LeBron’s injury status with gamblers just days after he set LeBron set the NBA’s all-time scoring record.
The FBI said Jones – a friend of LeBron and not an employee of the Lakers – sold or tried to profit from non-public information about LeBron before he was ruled out of a game against the Milwaukee Bucks on February 9, 2023, the DailyMail.
Reports say Jones received $2,500 payment through peer-to-peer mobile payment from leaking LeBron’s private information.
The indictment said one co-defendant, Marves Fairley, placed a $100,000 bet on the Lakers to lose the game.
