The Federal Government has appointed music superstar and humanitarian Innocent “2Face” Idibia as its National Fire Safety Ambassador, tasking him with promoting public awareness and encouraging behavioral change in fire prevention across Nigeria.
The announcement was made on Friday in Abuja by the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Samuel Adeyemi, during the closing ceremony of the 2025 National Fire Safety Week at the Service’s Headquarters.
Shifting the ‘Not My Portion’ Mentality
Speaking at the event, themed “Building a Culture of Fire Safety Across Nigeria: Overcoming the ‘Not My Portion’ Mentality,” Adeyemi (represented by Deputy Controller General Aliyu Tambari) highlighted the importance of shifting the public mindset to recognize that fire disasters can affect anyone.
Special recognition was given to 2Face Idibia, whose immense influence and national reach are expected to significantly strengthen national fire safety messaging, inspire widespread behavioral change, and engage millions of Nigerians with the safety agenda.
“As a National Fire Safety Ambassador, we expect him to inspire a new generation to embrace a culture of safety,” Adeyemi said.
2Face Idibia’s involvement is viewed as a crucial strategic step to reduce fire-related incidents and casualties nationwide by actively promoting proactive safety measures over reactive responses.
