Fashion’s most anticipated event, the Met Gala, returns Monday, May 5, 2025, and this year it’s putting the spotlight on menswear and Black style like never before. With co-chairs Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and LeBron James at the helm, this year’s theme promises a powerful cultural moment in fashion history.
The event, as always, raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York and will coincide with the unveiling of the new exhibition:
“Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” — inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
This year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” is a nod to historic and modern expressions of Black masculinity through fashion — marking the first Met Gala in over two decades focused solely on menswear. Expect bold tailoring, cultural references, and powerful style statements celebrating centuries of Black influence in fashion.
“This year’s theme is not only timely,” said Usher, a member of the Gala’s organizing committee, “but also speaks to our rich culture that should always be widely celebrated.”
What to Expect:
A guest list full of A-listers (though not made public).
Cultural icons like Simone Biles, Spike Lee, Ayo Edebiri, Tyla, Janelle Monáe, André 3000, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on the event’s host committee.
Live streaming from Vogue’s digital platforms, with coverage also on Peacock, E! Online, and social media.
Red carpet arrivals from 6:00 PM EST (11:00 PM BST) — likely to dominate your timeline come Tuesday.
While the $75,000 ticket price makes the Met Gala strictly invite-only, the public will still get a front-row view of the fashion spectacle through the digital coverage and viral content sure to follow.
💼✨ From suiting to storytelling, Met Gala 2025 is not just fashion — it’s a cultural declaration.
