England forward Marcus Rashford says he is loving his time at Barcelona, hinting that he would welcome a permanent transfer to the Spanish champions following his impressive start to life in La Liga.
Rashford joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United during the summer transfer window, with the Catalan club holding an option to make the deal permanent for £28 million next summer.
United manager Ruben Amorim had previously confirmed that the 27-year-old no longer featured in his long-term plans at Old Trafford, leading Rashford to seek a move away after more than two decades at the club.
Since arriving in Spain, Rashford has made a strong impact, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 12 appearances under manager Hansi Flick.
Speaking to ESPN, Rashford expressed his desire to remain at Barcelona beyond his loan spell.
“Oh yeah, for sure. I’m enjoying this football club, and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it’s an honour.”
Reflecting on his long association with Manchester United, Rashford admitted that the move to Barcelona came at the right time for him.
“It was so many years in one place. People forget this, but 24 years—23 years of my life—was with Manchester United,” he said.
“Sometimes you just need a change. I think maybe this is the case with me, and yeah, I’m enjoying everything.”
Rashford’s resurgence at Barcelona has fuelled speculation that the club will trigger the option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
