On July 19, 2025, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported via his official X account that Manchester City are willing to negotiate the sale of their first-choice goalkeeper, Ederson, before the 2025/26 Premier League season begins in August. The Brazilian international, who joined City from Benfica in the 2017 summer transfer window, has attracted interest from Turkish club Galatasaray.
Ederson, impressed by Galatasaray’s ambitious project, is open to the move, with the club prepared to match his current wages at Manchester City. However, the transfer fee remains a sticking point, as Galatasaray seeks a subsidized deal. This marks their second goalkeeper pursuit this season, following failed talks with Chelsea for Djordje Petrović.
Manchester City are eyeing Burnley’s James Trafford, a 22-year-old English goalkeeper, as a potential replacement. Discussions between the clubs are expected to accelerate, though no agreement has been reached yet. Ederson, a cornerstone of City’s success, has won 18 major titles, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three Community Shields, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
