Man Arrested Inside Nigerian Secondary School Over Alleged Sexual Assault of Minors

Residents of the Ojodu area in Lagos State,Nigeria were left disturbed on Wednesday after a man was apprehended on the premises of a secondary school, following allegations that he had previously assaulted a minor and had just attempted to do so again.

According to reports, the suspect was recognized by a student who raised an alarm upon seeing him within the school environment. The alert quickly drew the attention of people nearby, who intervened and restrained the man before handing him over to police officers at the Ojodu Divisional Station, located near the Grammar School Bus Stop along Ogunnusi Road.

A community member who spoke anonymously disclosed that the suspect is believed to work as a shoe repairer in the area and had been seen around the neighbourhood for some time. The source further alleged that the same man had assaulted a young girl approximately two months earlier after deceptively gaining access to her home under the pretext of requesting water. The incident reportedly remained undisclosed at the time but later came to light after the victim’s written account was discovered.

The same source added that the school principal only became aware of the earlier incident when the suspect entered the school premises and was identified by one of the students, who had also narrowly escaped an attack in the school’s restroom area. The student was said to have managed to alert others, preventing further harm.

Some residents claim the man often loiters around the area and appears to be of no fixed residence, although others insist he operates a small shoe-mending business nearby.

As of the time of this report, the identity of the suspect has not yet been officially released by the police. Authorities are expected to carry out further investigations, while community members have called for increased security around schools and residential areas to prevent similar incidents.
