Man Arrested in KZN,South Africa After Allegedly Stabbing Friend During Alcohol-Fueled Dispute

Authorities in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested a man accused of stabbing his Zimbabwean friend multiple times during an argument in Parkgate on Friday, 14 November 2025. Police say the confrontation turned violent after the suspect claimed the victim insulted his mother.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to an emergency call reporting that a 42-year-old Zimbabwean national had been stabbed in the chest. When officers arrived, they found the injured man in the passenger seat of an Opel Corsa bakkie, where paramedics treated him for three stab wounds before he was transported to hospital.

Fight Escalates Into Violence

According to the victim, he and the suspect had been drinking together when a verbal disagreement escalated. Believing his mother had been disrespected, the suspect allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the man several times.

Community members who witnessed the altercation reportedly intervened and assaulted the suspect before he fled the scene.

Suspect Arrested While Attempting to Escape

RUSA officers later received information that the suspect had taken refuge in a nearby bar. When officers arrived, they spotted him attempting to leave through the entrance of a local tavern. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Officials said the man appeared heavily intoxicated at the time of his arrest and claimed he could not remember where he had thrown the weapon used in the attack.

Police Continue Search for Weapon

The knife has not yet been recovered, and police are continuing efforts to locate it. Investigators say the suspect will face charges relating to assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The victim remains under medical care, and authorities have urged community members to report any information that may assist in the ongoing investigation.
