A 20-year-old man, identified as Jibrin Saidu Lamido, has died following a violent confrontation reportedly linked to a romantic dispute in Gurdadi village, located in the Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, when the deceased allegedly visited the home of his girlfriend, 22-year-old Saratu Gata, in nearby Kalameri village.
According to reports, another man arrived at the residence and took the woman away, allegedly challenging Jibrin to follow them “if he was truly a man.” A fight ensued between the two men, during which the suspect is said to have attacked Jibrin with a cutlass, inflicting fatal wounds to his neck.
Security officers from the Kumaganam Outstation responded to the scene and rushed the victim to the General Hospital, Kumaganam, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel. His body was later released to his family for burial after an autopsy.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that police have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspect, who remains at large as investigations continue.
