Madrid Police Arrest Father for Livestreaming Sexual Abuse of His Seven-Year-Old Daughter for Cryptocurrency

Spanish police have arrested a 46-year-old man in Madrid following allegations that he sexually abused his seven-year-old daughter and broadcast the acts live online in exchange for cryptocurrency, in what authorities describe as a disturbing case of online child exploitation.

According to Spain’s National Police, the suspect—whose identity has not been released to protect the child—was taken into custody after a months-long investigation into the online distribution of child sexual abuse material. Investigators say the man allegedly used private livestreaming platforms to connect with selected online users who paid to watch the abuse in real time.

Police officials confirmed that the suspect was arrested at his apartment in Madrid. Video footage released by authorities showed officers escorting the handcuffed man from the residential building to a waiting police vehicle. He was wearing casual clothing at the time of his arrest and did not speak to the media.

Investigation Triggered by Anonymous Tip

The investigation began in November 2025 after police received an anonymous report through a dedicated email system set up to receive public tip-offs related to child sexual exploitation. The alert prompted cybercrime detectives to begin monitoring online platforms suspected of being used to traffic abusive content involving minors.

In a statement summarising the case, a spokesperson for the National Police said officers uncovered evidence that the suspect had been using private livestreaming rooms to attract individuals seeking illegal content. These rooms, police said, were not publicly accessible and required prior arrangement through external messaging applications.

Authorities allege that the man initially drew attention by sharing inappropriate images intended to signal access to the child. Once contact was established, he reportedly arranged paid livestreams and received cryptocurrency through the same digital platforms.

Use of Cryptocurrency and Online Platforms

Investigators said the suspect allegedly received cryptocurrency as payment, which could then be converted into online gifts or used to boost his visibility and status on digital platforms. Police stressed that the use of cryptocurrency complicated the investigation, as such payments can be harder to trace than traditional financial transactions.

Cybercrime experts involved in the case noted that this method reflects a growing trend in online exploitation, where offenders attempt to conceal financial trails while operating within closed online communities.

Arrest and Evidence Seized

After identifying the suspect and confirming his location, officers moved in to make the arrest. A search of his apartment led to the seizure of two mobile phones, which police say contained a significant amount of illegal material. The devices are now undergoing forensic analysis to determine whether other victims or accomplices may be involved.

The child has been removed from the man’s care and is now under the protection of Spanish child welfare services. Authorities said specialist teams are providing psychological and social support to ensure her safety and recovery.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

The suspect is expected to face multiple charges, including aggravated sexual abuse of a minor, production and distribution of child sexual abuse material, and crimes related to online exploitation and financial gain. Under Spanish law, such offences carry severe penalties, including lengthy prison sentences.

Police have not ruled out further arrests, stating that the investigation remains open as they work to identify individuals who may have paid to access the livestreams.

Authorities Urge Public Vigilance

Spanish police used the case to renew calls for public vigilance and reporting of suspected online abuse. They emphasized that anonymous tip-offs play a critical role in uncovering crimes that often occur behind closed digital networks.

“This arrest shows the importance of cooperation between citizens and law enforcement in the fight against child exploitation,” the National Police said. “Early reporting can save children from ongoing abuse.”

The case has sparked renewed debate in Spain about online safety, the regulation of livestreaming platforms, and the use of digital currencies in criminal activity. Authorities say they will continue to strengthen cyber-monitoring efforts to combat the growing threat of online child exploitation and protect vulnerable children.
