“Love is No Longer in My Dictionary”: Queen Mercy Atang Slams Ex Following Valentine’s Message

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Mercy Atang has issued a scathing public rebuttal to an ex-boyfriend who reached out to wish her a Happy Valentine’s Day and offer an apology. In a series of emotional Instagram posts, the reality star revisited the “trauma” of 2024, accusing the unnamed ex of leading a coordinated character assassination campaign against her during her wedding year.

The 2024 Marriage Drama

Queen Mercy recalled the significant emotional distress she faced when she got married two years ago. She alleged that her ex-boyfriend utilized various social media platforms—including WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Instagram—to spread falsehoods and recruit others to “drag” her name.

“Remember 2024 when I got married? Remember the lies you spread about me… Recruiting your friends, even people I’ve never met, just to drag my name. There was nothing you didn’t say,” she wrote.

She detailed her desperate attempts to stop the harassment at the time, which included:

  • Family Intervention: Calling the ex’s brother, who is a close family friend.
  • Professional Appeals: Contacting the ex’s boss to plead for an end to the public attacks.
  • Personal Pleas: Directly calling the ex to ask why he was attempting to ruin her reputation.

The 2026 “Sister” Apology

The current friction was sparked when the ex-boyfriend reportedly reached out to her recently, addressing her as “sister” and requesting her contact information to apologize. Queen Mercy questioned the timing of this move, noting that she is no longer married and suggesting he might perceive her as “desperate.”

“Or because I’m no longer married, you think I’m desperate for love? My brother, love is no longer in my dictionary, oh. I’m no longer the mumu lover girl I used to be,” she declared.

History at UNIZIK

Clarifying the timeline of their relationship, Queen Mercy revealed that the two dated over a decade ago while students at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK).

“For the record, fam, we dated in 2013 at UNIZIK. When it ended, it ended. Once you’re my ex, you remain my ex for life. I don’t play those stupid games,” she stated, reinforcing her “no-return” policy regarding past relationships.

Public Accountability

Explaining why she chose to address the matter publicly rather than in private, Queen Mercy noted that because the initial “mockery” and “lies” were shared on public Snapchat and WhatsApp stories in 2024, the apology and her refusal should be equally visible.

She concluded by thanking friends who had saved and sent her screenshots of the derogatory posts from two years ago, which she still retains as evidence of the “stunts” pulled against her.
