Lil Nas X, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, is currently in in-patient treatment, his attorneys stated this week. The news comes after the 25-year-old artist was arrested last month on multiple charges following an alleged altercation with police officers.
Hill has pleaded not guilty to three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an executive officer. The charges stem from an August incident where officers stopped him as he walked down a Los Angeles street in his underwear.
During a court hearing on Monday, Hill’s attorneys informed Los Angeles County Judge Shellie Samuels that the musician was receiving treatment out of state. According to Rolling Stone, the judge allowed him to remain out of state as long as he continues his treatment.
Following the hearing, Hill’s legal team confirmed the development to the magazine, with attorney Drew Findling stating, “We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being.” He added that the artist is “surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him.”
