Lamine Yamal Makes History with Consecutive Kopa Trophy Wins

Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has solidified his place in football history by becoming the first player to win the Kopa Trophy in consecutive years. The 18-year-old winger was honored with the prestigious award at the 69th Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on September 22, 2025.

Yamal, who first claimed the award in 2024 following Spain’s European Championship victory, had a phenomenal 2024–25 season. He was a pivotal player in Barcelona’s domestic treble, contributing 18 goals and 25 assists across all competitions. His impressive performance earned him widespread praise, with several Inter Milan players reportedly calling him their toughest opponent of the season.

His back-to-back victories reinforce Barcelona’s reputation for developing young talent, as he joins teammates Pedri (2021) and Gavi (2022) as recipients of the award. At the same ceremony, another Barcelona talent, Vicky López, made history by winning the inaugural women’s Kopa Trophy, further highlighting the club’s success.

Yamal’s consecutive wins affirm his status as one of football’s brightest young stars and signal a promising future for both club and country.
