The Lagos State Government in Nigeria has shutdown two supermarkets and a restaurant for allegedly selling items with single-use plastics.
Winni supermarket and Afia Supermarket were shutdown on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 with their single-use plastic items confiscated.
Additionally, Beyond Tastee2Go Restaurant on Ogudu Road, Ojota was also shutdown on Wednesday after alleged repeated violations.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said in a post online that “Our enforcement teams continued operations today across multiple locations in Kosofe LGA to ensure full compliance with the Lagos State ban on Single-Use Plastics (SUPs).
According to him, “This ongoing exercise is part of our broader effort to curb plastic pollution, protect the environment, and promote a sustainable waste management culture in Lagos.”
He urged businesses “to transition to eco-friendly alternatives as the state intensifies enforcement.”
