Keta Girls Embrace Their Flow: Menstrual Health Initiative Celebrates Success

KETA KEDZI, GHANA – A year-long initiative empowering young girls in Keta Kedzi to embrace their menstrual cycles has concluded with resounding success. The Florence Mensah Foundation, in partnership with Reflo Company Ltd, celebrated the achievements of its “Helping 1000 Girls to Embrace Their Flow” project at a special gathering attended by community leaders, educators, parents, and the young beneficiaries.

The project tackled the stigma surrounding menstruation head-on, providing crucial education and resources to young girls. Recognizing that menstruation, a natural part of life, is often shrouded in misconceptions that hinder girls’ well-being and education, the foundation set out to ensure no girl feels ashamed or misses school due to a lack of understanding or access to sanitary products.

Over the past year, the foundation conducted comprehensive menstrual health education sessions in schools and communities, dispelling myths and empowering girls with accurate information. The initiative also provided sanitary products to 300 girls in Keta Kedzi, ensuring access to hygienic menstrual management solutions. Workshops and mentorship programs further promoted self-confidence and dignity, encouraging girls to embrace their menstrual cycles.

“To our girls here in Keta, I want you to know that you are capable, outstanding, and can achieve greatness,” said Rebecca Osam, CEO of the Florence Mensah Foundation, in an inspiring speech at the closing event. “Your menstrual cycle is a symbol of your strength and womanhood, and it should never hold you back. Embrace it with pride and let it remind you of your incredible potential.”

Osam expressed deep gratitude to all who contributed to the project’s success, including Springfield LTD, foundation staff, and donors worldwide. While this phase of the initiative has concluded, the foundation emphasized its ongoing commitment to supporting young girls across Ghana. The event concluded with a call to action, urging stakeholders to continue investing in menstrual health education and resources. The Florence Mensah Foundation’s “Helping 1000 Girls to Embrace Their Flow” has made significant strides in creating a future where girls are empowered to thrive, unhindered by their periods.
