Nigerian music star Kcee has shed new light on his rumored feud with fellow highlife artist Flavour, revealing that Flavour was introduced to him years ago for a possible recording deal, which he declined, citing a lack of potential at the time.
Kcee made the candid revelations, stating that he remains puzzled by Flavour’s continued hostility, believing the recent cryptic jabs were sparked by Kcee’s own persistent success in the music industry.
The Audition and The Rejection
Kcee claimed that the highlife star was initially brought to him by Soso Soberekon years ago, before Flavour achieved stardom. Kcee, who was already established, declined the opportunity.
“I came into the music industry before Flavour. Soso Soberekon brought him to me years ago to sign to my record label. I was already driving exotic cars and balling before he came to Lagos. I told Soso I can’t sign Flavour because I didn’t see potentials in him at that time. It wasn’t because I have something against him,” Kcee revealed.
Attributing Beef to Success
Kcee believes Flavour’s recent cryptic behavior and long-standing grudge may be due to Kcee’s current level of success, which doubters did not expect him to reach.
“Till now, I don’t understand the reason for his beef with me, especially that incident where he alleged that someone was coping him. The truth is that when some people had written you off, hoping that you would be stagnant, and you work hard and get to a level they don’t expect you to reach, that was what happened,” he emphasized.
The singer asserted that his humility has often been misunderstood by colleagues, but his talent always proves doubters wrong: “Some of those who doubted me in the past have come to apologise to me and admitted that they were wrong about me.” Kcee concluded by stating his belief that time will ultimately reveal the full truth behind the tension.
