Kamala Harris Hints at Possible 2028 Presidential Bid, Slams Trump as ‘Tyrant’

Former U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris has told the BBC that she may “possibly” run again for the White House in the 2028 election, making her strongest suggestion yet that she is planning another presidential bid.

Speaking on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg in her first UK interview, Harris dismissed polls that currently place her as an outsider, even behind figures like Hollywood actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, for the Democratic ticket.

“If I listened to polls I would have not run for my first office, or my second office – and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here,” she stated.

On Her Future in Politics

When asked if she would be the future female president, Harris responded, “possibly,” confirming she is actively considering another run for the top job. She also expressed confidence that her grandnieces would “in their lifetime, for sure,” see a woman in the White House.

The former Vice-President made it clear that she has no intention of stepping away from public life:

“I am not done. I have lived my entire career as a life of service and it’s in my bones.”

Criticizing Donald Trump

Harris also turned her fire on her former rival, branding President Donald Trump a “tyrant.” She suggested that the warnings she made about him on the campaign trail during last year’s election had been proven right following his decisive victory over Joe Biden.

Her comments come as the Democratic party is analyzing the reasons for the 2024 election loss, with much of the blame previously directed at former President Joe Biden for not stepping down sooner. Questions have also been raised about whether Harris could have run a clearer campaign focused on the number one issue: the economy.
