Mohbad and his ‘son’ Liam
Nigerian investigative journalist, Dr. Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, has alleged that the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, once took his son, Liam to a riverbank when he was only two-months-old attempting drown him, further claiming Mohbad had suicidal thoughts prior to his death during a fight in the back of a car.
In her Facebook post on Thursday night, August 14, 2025, Olunloyo alleged that tensions between Mohbad, his wife Wunmi, and actress Iyabo Ojo escalated after the singer discovered that Iyabo had allegedly sent Wunmi to engage in “hookups.” According to her, Mohbad began releasing songs laced with subliminal messages — dubbed “transformer songs” — targeting Iyabo and an unnamed “King.”
She claimed that music executive Naira Marley subsequently posted damaging allegations online, including claims about sexual relations involving Iyabo and her daughter. This, Olunloyo alleged, triggered Iyabo to “snitch” on both Marley and Mohbad, which led to a February 2022 raid by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) during what she described as a “drug party.” Marley, who was reportedly in Sweden at the time, allegedly had to rush back to Nigeria after the incident.
Olunloyo further claimed that in October 2022, Mohbad was physically assaulted at the Marlian Music house during disputes over his desire to leave the record label. By July 2022, Wunmi was pregnant, later giving birth to their son, Liam, in April 2023.
During her pregnancy, Olunloyo alleged, Iyabo Ojo used the popular gossip blog Gistlover to post that Wunmi was pregnant for Lagos monarch, Oba Saheed Elegushi, although the post was allegedly deleted within seconds. The alleged post reportedly led to the arrest of two young men who had reshared it.
The journalist also made a disturbing claim about an incident in May 2023, when Mohbad, reportedly angered by the post, attempted to drown baby Liam at a riverbank when the child was two months old. She alleged that friends and family intervened to prevent the act, and that Mohbad had been struggling with suicidal thoughts.
She stated categorically “In May 2023, Mohbad angry at the post took baby Liam at two months old to a riverbank attempting to drown the baby. His friends and brother prevented him from doing it. Mohbad was suicidal. Go watch my 3 hr Primeboy interview on YouTube. Mohbad has been trying to establish paternity of Liam since then and the fight started again at the back of the car during the concert night which ultimately led to his death during the scuffle.”
Olunloyo said Mohbad had been seeking a paternity test for Liam since that time, and that a renewed quarrel over the matter during a car ride after a concert eventually led to a scuffle in which the singer died.
