A woman who alleged that Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z sexually assaulted her 25 years ago has withdrawn her lawsuit against the two celebrities. The plaintiff, known as Jane Doe, filed a notice of voluntary dismissal on Friday, dropping the lawsuit with prejudice and preventing it from being re-filed in the future.
The lawsuit, initially filed in October 2024, alleged that Doe was drugged and raped by Combs and another celebrity at an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000, when she was 13 years old. Jay-Z was added as a defendant in an amended complaint filed in December 2024, with Doe accusing him of rape.
Both Combs and Jay-Z have vigorously denied the allegations, with Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, hailing the dismissal of the lawsuit as a victory. “The false case against Jay-Z, that never should have been brought, has been dismissed with prejudice,” Spiro said in a statement.
Combs’ attorney also welcomed the dismissal, stating that Combs has “never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.” Combs faces more than 40 sexual assault lawsuits and was indicted in September on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty.
