A former commerce minister of Côte d’Ivoire and one of the five candidates in the country’s October 25, 2025 Presidential Election, Jean-Louis Billon, has conceded defeat to incumbent President Alassane Ouattara.

He disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday, October 26, 2025 that President Ouattara has won the election.

Partial results released so far by Ivory Coast’s electoral commission showed Ouattara with a commanding lead in many areas across the country.

Billon, one of the four candidates who were challenging Ouattara, said in his statement that “The initial results place the incumbent President, Mr Alassane Ouattara, in the lead, designating him the winner of this presidential election.”

He went on to congratulate Ouattara, aged 83. Mr. Ouattara is headed for his fourth-term of office.
