Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for December 2024 after a stellar run of performances. The Swedish international scored eight goals in six appearances during the month, leading Newcastle to four wins, one draw, and only one loss.
Isak received the highest number of votes among the eight nominated players. His goal-scoring spree included a hat-trick against Ipswich Town, as well as goals against Liverpool, Brentford, Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Manchester United. He found the net in every game he played in December and was the Premier League’s top goalscorer for the month. His contribution has propelled Newcastle into contention for a top-four finish.
Isak becomes the fourth Swedish player to win the award since its inception in 1994/95. He joins Freddie Ljungberg (April 2002), Johan Elmander (November 2010), and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (December 2016) in achieving this feat. He is also the first Newcastle player to win the award since Miguel Almiron in October 2022.
The other nominees for the award were Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer, Antonee Robinson, Morgan Gibbs-White, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Jacob Murphy.
