Loved ones and residents gathered in the town of Solwezi in Zambia on Monday, August 4, 2025, to bid farewell to Womba Samulozela, the Zambian woman who was shot dead by her husband after which he killed her brother and then shot himself dead.
Womba was shot dead at her home on August 1, 2025.
Her brother, Wana Samulozela, was also shot dead during the same attack.
The alleged killer, Funkuta Muyembi, Womba’s husband and a police officer at Solwezi Central Police Station, reportedly used the same gun to kill himself after the double homicide.
An ongoing marital dispute is thought to have triggered the incident, according to several local media reports.
While Womba was laid to rest in Solwezi, arrangements are being made to return Wana’s body to Lusaka for burial later this week.
