It was a night of spectacle, innovation and star power as Hisense Ghana officially unveiled its groundbreaking 116-inch UX TriChroma RGB MiniLED TV on Onua Showtime, hosted by celebrated media personality Nana Ama McBrown and award-winning musician Wendy Shay.
Standing beside the elegantly covered screen, the two stars built anticipation among viewers before revealing what McBrown described as “a VERY special night” for Ghana and the continent.
“What you are about to witness has never been seen on this continent before,” she declared. “Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to unveil the world’s largest consumer television here in Ghana.”
Wendy Shay followed with equal excitement: “Hisense Ghana is bringing the future right into your living room — and tonight, it starts right here on Onua Showtime! I present to you… the Hisense 116-inch TriChroma RGB MiniLED TV!”
Moments later, the massive display was unveiled to applause.
A Screen Like No Other
The first feature highlighted was the sheer size of the television. At 116 inches, the screen measures nearly three metres wide — over 2.6 metres precisely — and almost 1.5 metres tall. Weighing approximately 102 kilograms, the set commands attention even before it is switched on.
“Once it is on your wall?” Wendy Shay remarked. “It is a CINEMA. In. Your. Home.”
Revolutionary RGB TriChroma MiniLED Technology
Beyond its imposing size, the TV’s true innovation lies in its display technology. Unlike conventional televisions that rely on white or blue LEDs, Hisense’s TriChroma system uses more than 20,000 tiny red, green and blue LEDs working together to produce colour directly at the source.
The result is extraordinary colour accuracy, covering 95–97% of the BT.2020 colour space — currently the widest colour range available on any TV on the market. Reds appear richer, greens deeper and blues more vibrant, delivering visuals described as nearly indistinguishable from real life.
The TV also reaches brightness levels of up to 8,000 nits — significantly higher than most premium televisions, which typically peak between 1,000 and 2,000 nits. Even under bright studio lighting, images remained sharp and vivid with no washout.
Adding to its visual credibility, the TV is both Pantone Validated and Pantone SkinTone Validated, ensuring natural and accurate representation of all skin tones — a point warmly emphasized during the live presentation.
AI-Powered Viewing Experience
The UX model integrates Hisense’s Hi-View AI Engine X, powered by Deep Neural Networks. The system analyses every frame in real time, automatically adjusting picture and sound settings whether viewers are watching football, Kumawood films or Hollywood blockbusters — eliminating the need for manual calibration.
Immersive Built-In Cinema Sound
Sound quality was another standout feature. The television houses a 6.2.2 CineStage X surround sound system — comprising six speaker channels, two subwoofers and two overhead height channels built directly into the unit.
With support for Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X, the TV delivers multidimensional audio without the need for external speakers, allowing sound to move dynamically around the room.
Built for Gamers
Gamers were not left out of the innovation. The TV features a native 165Hz refresh rate, refreshing 165 times per second for ultra-smooth motion. It also supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Variable Refresh Rate from 48 to 165Hz, eliminating screen tearing and lag during high-speed gameplay.
Smart Connectivity and Ultra-Slim Design
Running on Google TV, the device provides access to over 400,000 movies, shows and apps via the Google Play Store, including Netflix, YouTube and Prime Video. It integrates seamlessly with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit, and supports Wi-Fi 6E and HDMI eARC for fast, high-quality connectivity.
Despite its size, the screen measures less than 40 millimetres thin and features Anti-Reflection Pro coating to reduce glare.
A Milestone for Ghana’s Tech Market
Closing the segment, McBrown described the television as “a screen wider than most cars are long, a picture brighter than any TV before it, sound that wraps around you like a blanket, and intelligence that thinks so you don’t have to.”
Wendy Shay added that Hisense continues to stand for world-class technology made accessible, noting that the 116-inch UX TriChroma RGB MiniLED TV will be available for viewing at the company’s newly opened showroom in Haatso.
