Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, is set to make another attempt at a new record by cooking the world’s biggest pot of jollof rice. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 12, 2025, starting at 9 a.m.
The massive pot, with a volume of 22,619 litres, was recently delivered to Eko Hotel in Lagos. Fabricated in Gbagada, it was transported overnight to the event venue. Baci shared a video of the delivery on her Instagram page, expressing her excitement: “At 4 am this morning our pot was safely transported from gbagada where it was fabricated to @ekohotels Eko hotel where the event is taking place. I’m still pinching myself this is actually happening in less than 24 hrs.”
The venue for the event was changed from the originally planned Muri Okunola Park to Eko Hotel after more than 20,000 people registered to attend, overwhelming the capacity of the original location.
Baci announced the change on social media, expressing gratitude for the public’s support. “To my greatest surprise over 20,000 people registered to attend this event,” she said. “I mean, who am I that you guys really care about what I am doing? It means so much to me and I don’t take it for granted.”
She explained that the initial venue could only accommodate about 3,500 people, making the change necessary for the safety and comfort of attendees. Baci described the new venue at Eko Hotels and Suites as “bigger” and “amazing.”
