The government of Guinea-Bissau is deepening its national commitment to women, peace and security agenda.
From the 22nd to 24th of July 2025, ECOWAS, in collaboration with the Government of Guinea-Bissau and various partners, organized a national capacity-building workshop in Bissau on the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda.
The workshop, which focused on the application of the Continental Results Framework (CRC) adapted to the West African context, aimed to strengthen monitoring and reporting mechanisms linked to UN Resolution 1325. It brought together over 35 participants from ministries, security institutions, civil society organizations, academia and the media, and benefited from the technical and financial support of the EPSG project, co-funded by the European Union and the German government, with the support of GIZ.
At the end of the workshop, five gender evaluation reports were handed over to the ECOWAS offices in Guinea-Bissau. Participants welcomed the initiative and expressed their willingness to contribute actively to future reporting cycles, calling for concrete actions to advance the WPS Agenda in the country and in West Africa.
