As the year comes to an end, Billboard has revealed its list of the “10 Hottest Female Rappers of 2024.”
The “Yeah Glo!” star took to social media to share the love amongst other rappers on the list as she takes the No. 1 spot. She beats out Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj and Doechii.
While Billboard does mention that GloRilla had a slow start in 2023 following singles “Cha Cha” and “Pop It,” which failed to gain much traction, GloRilla returned in 2024 with the chart-topping song “Yeah Glo!” The track quickly made it to the top 30 of the Hot 100 list and continued to go up to top 15 with “Wanna Be” featuring Megan Thee Stallion and her huge summer hit “TGIF.” Having performed with rap bestie Megan Thee Stallion, GloRill stood her own, giving “headliner energy” and becoming a household name this year. With co-signs from Rihanna and Taylor Swift, GloRilla’s 2024 also saw her drop her debut album GLORIOUS in October. The album featured Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Sexyy Red, Kirk Franklin, T-Pain and more.
Other rappers on the list include Sexyy Red, Latto, Doja Cat, JT, Rapsody and Cardi B. When talking about her debut album to Billboard, GloRilla said, “Last year, I was supposed to drop my debut album, but I was still just getting used to stuff and working a lot. When the top of the year came, I had the project basically done. I was like, ‘OK, I gotta give them the mixtape before I give them the album,’ because I went the whole year without dropping anything. That’s why I said I was gonna give them the mixtape first, get em’ back used to me first, give ’em a feel of me, and then that’s gonna prep me for the album. The mixtape did good and did what it was supposed to do, which prepped me for my album.”
