Girlfriend to Cartel Leader El Mencho Rejects Claims Linking Her to His death

A Mexican social media influencer and OnlyFans creator has publicly denied online claims that she was romantically involved with slain cartel figure Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, widely known as “El Mencho,” after rumors spread across Spanish-language platforms.

María Julissa, who has more than 3.5 million followers on Instagram, said she was falsely identified as the woman whose relationship allegedly helped authorities locate the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

“I want to make it absolutely clear: I have nothing to do with that situation,” she wrote in a statement shared on her social media accounts. “The information going around is false and lacks foundation.”

Viral AI Image Fuels Speculation

The controversy gained traction after an AI-generated image circulated online appearing to show Julissa alongside Oseguera. Although authorities have not released the identity of the woman involved in the operation, social media users began speculating that the influencer was connected to the cartel leader.

Mexican officials have not named or described the woman whose movements were reportedly tracked by intelligence agents.

Julissa urged her followers not to believe unverified claims. “I ask that you all not fall for fake news and always look to reliable sources and officials,” she added.

How Authorities Closed In

Earlier this week, Mexico’s Defense Secretary, Ricardo Trevilla, said security forces were able to trace Oseguera’s location through a woman believed to be close to him.

According to Trevilla, intelligence agents identified a man connected to the woman and discovered she had been transported to Tapalpa, a mountainous community in the western state of Jalisco where Oseguera and his armed associates were reportedly hiding in a fortified compound.

Officials said the woman eventually left the property, but Oseguera and his men remained inside.

Deadly Confrontation

Mexican special forces were subsequently deployed to the area. Authorities said a firefight broke out after cartel members opened fire on security personnel. Oseguera and several of his associates were killed during the operation.

Oseguera had long been considered one of Mexico’s most powerful and elusive criminal figures. He was previously married to Rosalinda González Valencia, who was released from prison last year after serving a sentence for money laundering. The couple reportedly separated in 2018.

Aftermath of the Operation

Following his death, violence reportedly escalated in parts of Jalisco and neighboring states. More than 70 people were killed in the unrest that followed, including 25 members of Mexico’s National Guard, according to official reports.

As investigations continue, authorities have not linked María Julissa to any criminal activity, and no evidence has been presented connecting her to the cartel leader.
