Ghanaian Security Forces Move to Seize Disputed Panbros Salt Land Following Chinese Investor’s Real Estate Claim

A joint team of armed national security personnel and police officers has taken control of a section of Panbros Salt Industries Limited’s salt pans, following a dispute over ownership of the land.

The contested site, which lies within the Weija Ramsar wetland, is reportedly being claimed by a Chinese investor seeking to repurpose the area for a real estate project.

The development has stirred public concern, with environmental advocates warning that any commercial construction within the protected Ramsar zone could pose serious ecological risks.

Security officers were deployed to oversee the operation and prevent disturbances as the seizure was carried out. Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the legal standing of the land claim and ensure compliance with environmental and property laws.
