Ghanaian Opposition Lawmakers Demand Answers On COVID-19 Surge In Ghana

Lawmakers on the side of Ghana’s main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have demanded that Ghana’s Minister of Health appear before the Ghanaian Parliament to explain the reasons behind the resurgence in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases at the University of Ghana.

The Minority say the current COVID-19 situation is going out of control.

According to the Minority, the situation is creating fear and panic in parts of Ghana.

As such, the Minority demanded that the Minister must be transparent about the current state of affairs and offer clear information to the public.

“We don’t want to go through what the country went through some time back, so let’s make hay while the sun shines. And I place this call right in front of the respected leader of the house that we should make an arrangement and get the sector minister to come and do the needful,” Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, stated on the floor of Parliament.

“It is a very important issue that we need to get the Health Minister to respond and update the country as to whether COVID is back or not,” added Nurudeen Muhammed Mumuni, MP for Nalerigu/Gambaga.
