The Chairman of Ghana Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, James Agalga, has leveled serious accusations against opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP), Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, alleging that the NPP MP fabricated claims about two aircraft being involved in drugs and money laundering.
In a submission on JoyNews’ Newsfile program, a popular program on Accra-based radio station, JoyFM, Mr. Agalga criticized Ntim Fordjour for recklessly attempting to tarnish Ghana’s image.
Agalga’s Concerns
Mr. Agalga questioned Rev. Ntim Fordjour’s motives, particularly his decision to bypass official security channels and opt for a public press release instead. “If your Ranking Member was not being malicious, why was he ranting against the security agencies instead of assisting them to probe the matter?” Mr. Agalga asked.
Lack of Evidence
Agalga further asserted that Ntim Fordjour lacked the necessary facts to support his claims, constructing a false narrative to fuel public suspicion. “He didn’t have his facts right and he was being malicious. He sat down and concocted the story and threw it against the state,” Agalga stated firmly.

Call for Responsibility
Agalga emphasized the need for parliamentary leaders to act responsibly and not compromise the integrity of state institutions for political gain. This development comes amid rising tensions over the role of security agencies and concerns about political interference in national security matters.
Ntim Fordjour’s Previous Statements
It’s worth noting that Ntim Fordjour has been vocal about security concerns in Bawku, expressing grave concern over the persistent violence and calling for immediate government intervention. He highlighted the deteriorating security situation, marked by sporadic shootings, arson, and home invasions, and warned that the continued cycle of reprisals would further entrench lawlessness and insecurity.
