Ghanaian main opposition Party, NPP to Conduct Balloting for 2026 Presidential Primaries on October 10

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that the balloting exercise for its January 31, 2026, presidential primaries will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the party’s national headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the Presidential Elections Committee, William Yamoah, all vetted aspirants have been invited to take part in the exercise, which will determine their order on the ballot paper for the party’s upcoming presidential election.

The statement, addressed to the five cleared aspirants — Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ken Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong — congratulated them on successfully completing the vetting process. It further urged their cooperation in promoting the party’s democratic values.

“The Chairman of the Committee has directed me to extend an invitation for your participation in a balloting process to determine your positions on the ballot paper for the upcoming January 31st presidential primary,” the statement read in part.


The committee also requested that aspirants confirm receipt of the invitation and encouraged them to contact the committee for any additional information or clarification.
