Ghana: UG Lecturer Wins Tamale Central NDC Parliamentary Primaries

A Senior lecturer at the University of Ghana (UG’s) political science department, Prof. Alidu Seidu, has emerged victorious in the Tamale Central Constituency parliamentary primaries of Ghana’s ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The primaries was held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday, September 6, 2025, to elect a successor for the late Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who was the Member of Parliament for the Constituency but died in a fatal helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Contesting in the primaries were 12 aspirants, among them three women. They were all seeking to represent the NDC.

Prof. Seidu was declared winner by the Electoral Commission after polling 800 votes.
