At least 10 new cases of Mpox, formerly known as Monkeypox, have been recorded in Ghana.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) confirmed the new cases, brining Ghana’s total Mpox case count to 19.
GHS officials say five of the confirmed cases are currently on admission.
No deaths have been reported so far in the latest outbreak, according to GHS.
Mpox is a viral zoonotic disease related to smallpox. It comes with symptoms such as fever, intense headache, swollen lymph nodes, back pain, muscle aches, and skin rashes.
The disease is transmitted from person to person through close contact with body fluids, lesions, respiratory droplets.
Mpox cases have been recorded in other African countries such as Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo.
