Police in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital of Ghana, are investigating what they have termed as “unnatural death” of a Senegalese national in Kumasi.
The Ghana Police Service made this known in a statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs Unit for the Ashanti Region, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Godwin Ahianyo.
According to the statement dated Monday, October 20, 2025, the Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigation Department has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 20-year-old Senegalese national, Cheith Toure, “whose body has been deposited at the Ebenezer mortuary at Tafo, Kumasi.”
It said initial enquiries revealed that the deceased was sent to the mortuary by an individual identified as Issah, who claimed to be a brother to the deceased.
The statement noted that further investigations at the Manhyia Government Hospital established that on October 16, 2025, the same Issah brought the deceased to the hospital in a critical condition, with severe abdominal injuries, alleging that the victim had been involved in an accident.
It added that “however, hospital records indicate that the victim was brought in dead.”
According to the statement, “The Police Command assures the public that every effort is being made to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding Mr. Toure’s death.”
