The Eastern North Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects and confiscated suspected narcotic substances and ammunition during a coordinated security operation in Kwahu Nkwatia, aimed at dismantling drug distribution points and criminal hideouts.
The operation was conducted on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, following actionable intelligence on suspected illegal activities within Nkwatia Township and nearby communities. Police teams carried out targeted patrols and search exercises as part of efforts to improve public safety and curb drug-related crime in the area.
Recoveries and Arrests
Kwayeano suburb (Nkwatia):
Officers carried out a cordon-and-search exercise, leading to the recovery of 46 wraps of dried leaves, believed to be narcotic drugs.
Estate near Nkwatia SDA School:
Two suspects—Kwame Asomani (27) and Kwasi Dwamena (25)—were arrested after police allegedly found quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances in their possession.
Aduamoah community:
In a separate operation, police arrested Kwadwo Ofori (45) for allegedly possessing 10 rounds of BB ammunition without lawful authority.

All three suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. The seized items have been secured and are expected to undergo forensic analysis to confirm their nature and origin.
The Eastern North Regional Police Command stated that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that the suspects will be formally charged and arraigned before court once the investigative process is completed.
Police authorities also reiterated their commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations to combat drug trafficking, illegal arms possession, and other criminal activities across the region, urging residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement by sharing credible information.
