Ghana: Police Arrest 49-Year-Old Fisherman For Raping 13-Year-Old Girl

Police in the Central Region of Ghana have arrested a fisherman for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

According to the Central Regional Police Command in a statement dated October 22, 2025, the suspect identified as Samuel Armah, a.k.a Kofi Nyan, was seen in a video that went viral on social media defining the 13-year-old girl in the Central Region.

The statement narrated that “On October 17, 2025, about 1300 hours, the Apam District Police Command received information that on October 16, 2025, a 49-year-old fisherman by the name Samuel Armah, a.k.a Kofi Nyan, had defiled a 13-year-old girl at Mumford, a suburb of Apam.”

It said Police were informed “that the suspect lured the survivor into a ghetto at Mumford and defiled her.”

Police, the statement added, on receipt of information, proceeded to the area, and with the assistance of Mumford task force, arrested the suspect.

It disclosed that “The survivor was sent to St. Luke Catholic Hospital for examination and treatment.”

According to the statement, “The docket was referred to the Central Regional DOVVSU, where he admitted to the offence and accused was subsequently detained and will be arraigned before court for prosecution on October 23rd, 2025.”
