Police in the Eastern Region of Ghana have arrested two suspects – a man and a woman – for allegedly plotting to kill a chief and a woman said to be lined up for installation as Queen Mother.
In a statement signed by its head of public affairs unit, DSP David Fianko-Okyere, the Eastern South Regional Police Command, said the suspects were plotting to assassinate a chief in the Eastern Region.
According to the statement, “The suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, were arrested following an intelligence-led operation.”

The statement added that “Their arrests followed the uncovering of a plan to eliminate the chief ahead of his first royal durbar scheduled for 17th October 2025 at Akyem Kwabeng.”
It says acting on intelligence received on October 11, 2025, a police intelligence team infiltrated the suspects’ network.
During the operation, it added, suspect Emelia Akua Asor offered Ghc 50,000 to undercover officers to kill the chief and another woman alleged to be lined up for installation as Queen Mother, saying “She further instructed Butuakwa Seth to assist identify the residences of the intended victims.”

According to the statement, “Suspect Butuakwa Seth led the officers to the homes of the chief and the woman and provided a photograph of the chief to facilitate the planned act. The suspects also promised an additional Ghc 50,000 upon completion of the crime.”
It noted that both suspects are in police custody assisting investigations and will be put before court.
