Ghana: NPP Begins Registration For Additional Delegates Ahead Of Presidential Election

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana has announced that it has started a new registration phase for additional delegates ahead of its 2026 presidential primary.

NPP made the announcement in a statement issued by the Secretary of its Presidential Election Committee, William Yeboah.

According to the statement, the new registration process started after a decision was made at the National Annual Delegates Conference held in Accra on July 19, 2025.

The statement revealed that the new categories of eligible voters added to the party’s voter register — also known as the “album” — include former regional and constituency executives, members of the Council of Elders and Patrons, past Members of Parliament, former ministers and MMDCEs, TESCON leaders, and current and former external branch executives.

All qualified individuals are expected to register their names with their respective regional, constituency, or external branch offices. An online registration platform will also be made available, particularly for members of the diaspora.

According to the statement, the registration for these additional delegates will end on Friday, September 19, 2025. The comprehensive update to the delegate album is aimed at promoting inclusiveness and ensuring a more representative voting base for the crucial internal election.
