Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) and ranking member on the Ghanaian Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, has urged Ghana’s Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to resign.
Rev Ntim Fordjour has also urged Mr. Ablakwa to apologize to former President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and as well support the acquisition of a new presidential jet for Ghana.
In a post on social media early Monday morning, August 18, 2025, Rev Ntim Fordjour blasted Mr. Ablakwa and his ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration for what he called “petty politics over presidential travels.
He wrote: “Mr Principle, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana, is expecting your resignation. NDC must apologise to Ghanaians and Prez Akufo-Addo for doing petty politics with presidential travels.”
According to him, safety concerns surrounding the presidential aircraft were too critical to be politicised and demanded a more pragmatic approach to addressing the issue.
Furthermore, he called on the President John Mahama’s government to act boldly by submitting a proposal for the purchase of a new presidential jet to guarantee the President’s security and dignity during international assignments.
“Govt must be bold to submit a proposal for the acquisition of a new Presidential Jet for the President’s safety,” he said.
His comments come against the backdrop of renewed debate over the state of Ghana’s presidential aircraft, with critics questioning its reliability.
